AviClear Explained
What Is It And How Does It Work?
AviClear is a revolutionary laser treatment using a 1726nm wavelength to selectively target acne at the source and down-regulate the oil glands known as sebaceous glands. Why? Because acne forms when sebum, the oily substance on your skin, is combined with dead skin cells, followed by clogging your pores. Sebum is the substance that forms an atmosphere for bacteria to develop, which then causes inflammation, resulting in painful and cystic acne. A leading mechanism of acne is the overproduction of sebum by the sebaceous glands.
Where does the AviClear laser come into play? It damages the sebocytes and reduces sebum production. After the treatment, you will produce less oil, decrease your acne, and see improved skin! AviClear can effectively treat all skin types while treating all types of acne, whether mild, moderate or severe.
Who Is It For And Am I A Candidate?
AviClear is for teenagers and adult patients who suffer from acne. MD Skin Lab recommends AviClear for those looking to treat acne and eliminate the bacteria that causes acne and those with very oily skin who want to reduce oil production. Additionally, it's excellent for those who wish to diminish acne inflammation, reduce pore size, and improve the skin's appearance. AviClear is safe for all skin tones.
AviClear is ideal for patients searching for a safe and effective alternative to traditional acne treatments. The treatment is safe for all skin types and tones and can be used on adolescents and adults.

How Long Will An AviClear Treatment Take?
One of our favourite things about an AviClear treatment is that it is very convenient and fits busy schedules! Each treatment session with your aesthetician should last approximately 50 minutes, with only three treatment sessions.
What Does The Treatment Feel Like?
During the treatment, you may notice a light snapping and cooling sensation. Many patients tolerate this sensation and overall treatment well.
What Is The Downtime After AviClear?
After the AviClear treatment, you may experience mild redness and swelling from one hour to up to two days. Acne flare-ups may occur but are temporary and should resolve with time. We recommend applying SPF 30+ sunblock daily throughout your treatment series. Additionally, MD Skin Lab recommends using an anti-acne skincare regime; our physicians and aestheticians can help create the best skincare regimen for you.

How Many Appointments Will I Need, And When Will I See The Results?
Having three appointments spaced one month apart is essential to see results. Each appointment is 50 minutes. At the 3-month and 6-month mark, after your final treatment, you will be asked to return for a follow-up.
After the treatment, you will experience less oily skin, and your acne should begin to improve. Acne flare-ups may occur during the purge phase, where the targeted bacteria is brought to the skin's surface before destruction. You should start seeing results around 3-4 weeks after your last treatment. According to clinical studies, over 90% of patients saw at least half of their acne significantly improve at one year (up from 80% at three months). Results may continue to improve with time, several months to a year, after your treatment sessions are finished.
Will I Experience Any Side Effects?
The side effects of AviClear are mild compared to certain acne medications that are harsh on your body. AviClear is free of harmful side effects, as no chemicals or toxins are used in this laser treatment. After treatment, mild symptoms may appear but are expected. These include redness which can last up to 1-2 days post-treatment, inflammation and flare-ups, but they fade quickly.
