What is hyperhidrosis?
Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition that’s characterized by excessive sweating. All human beings produce sweat to cool the body and regulate temperature. Excessive sweating happens when the nerves that control sweat glands become overactive, resulting in the body’s inability to normalize sweat function.

There are two types of hyperhidrosis
Primary Hyperhidrosis
(Focal hyperhidrosis) is excessive sweating that typically occurs in localized areas such as the hands, underarms, face or feet without any apparent cause or underlying medical condition.
Secondary hyperhidrosis
(Generalized hyperhidrosis) is excessive perspiration in larger areas of the body, possibly due to natural causes such as being in a warm environment, or because of a medical condition or medication.
BOTOX® is highly effective at alleviating the symptoms of primary hyperhidrosis. It works by temporarily blocking communication between the nerves and sweat glands. A quick 15-minute appointment can reduce excessive sweating under the arms, hands and feet in about 7 to 14 days.
